Refine, Deepen, and Widen Your SE™ Practice
14 ways to improve your SE practice
How can you deepen the results of your Somatic Experiencing practice? In this six-hour online seminar, Dr. Raja Selvam presents practical ways to develop your work with SE.
Seminar description
Dr. Raja Selvam has taught Somatic Experiencing (SE)® in more than two dozen countries on six continents for 30 years. In this six-hour online seminar over two days, he presents 14 ways to improve outcomes in your SE practice through lectures, discussions, and at least one live demonstration with participants.
Topics
- Enhance your understanding and practice of the SE™ concepts of Tracking Sensations, Resources, Pendulation, Titration, and Coupling Dynamics.
- Understand the prevailing concern about retraumatising clients, how it can compromise the SE™ process, and how to overcome it to work more deeply and effectively with trauma.
- Learn why a flexible therapeutic frame that includes guiding as well as following a client’s process is essential for better outcomes.
- Learn how to resolve trauma symptoms more effectively by going beyond the common body sensations most people can report. Track the body more precisely using the short list of sensations expected at different stages of the threat response cycle.
- Acquire strong somatic techniques to reduce the risk of retraumatisation when working deeply with trauma. These techniques use brain physiology, movement of important muscles as resources, self-touch and touch, interpersonal resonance, and subtle and collective body methods. Brain-touch and subtle-body techniques can be especially helpful when working with global, high-intensity activation patterns.
- Learn how to avoid common mistakes when working with emotions in the body that arise from an inadequate understanding of emotional physiology, and improve your work with emotions, the “A” of SIBAM.
- Bonus: Learn the Expansion Technique from Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP) for working with emotions and syndromes, and with clients who have low affect tolerance or high levels of dysregulation.
Who may attend
Somatic Experiencing Practitioners, SE™ training graduates, and SE™ students who have completed at least the Intermediate level of the SE™ Professional Training.
With full live attendance, you can receive two faculty case consultation hours toward SEP certification.
