We have all kinds of associations with the word retreat. Apart from the idea that it has to do with pulling back from the world, being alone and not disturbed, we also have the association of being on a diet and doing without: asceticism, discipline, effort also come into the picture.
In the training as a meditation and relaxation therapist the retreat only has one purpose: it takes us into the world of doing nothing and relaxation. We give space to silence and doing nothing in order to bring things back into balance. We devote ourselves to the oldest form of meditation: sitting in silence. This simple technique has a tradition going back hundreds of years. We let ourselves sit back, do nothing and simply remain alert. We allow ourselves and the world simply to be as we are without interfering or doing. That all sounds very easy, but nevertheless we often notice how many things we are confronted with in the silence. The mind throws out questions and we notice how locked in we are in our patterns and habits and the tensions that accompany them.
We will find out that the powerful process of the retreat gives us some distance to our thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations. Our awareness grows and we find a way to real freedom and furthermore have the chance to come back to our centres, our essential selves and to relax there.
Interviews will take place during the retreat to support this process. It is an essential experience for those who are on the path of meditation and who want to share meditation with others.
